Fresh from Ebay and lovingly wrapped in an extra small Abercrombie & Fitch sweater! What could it be!?!?
Yep, I’ve finally begun collecting parts for a suspension upgrade for Ruby, my SV650!
I can haz compression and rebound adjustment!
First item is a shock from a 07 ZX-10R. It’s one of the more common upgrades for the SV. The spring rate is 465 lb/in up from the SV’s 430 lb/in and has compression and rebound adjustment. It’s also about 8 mm longer. Raising the rear a bit will steepen the rake of the forks and reduce trail a bit. If I don’t like how that feels I can install some lowering links that came with the bike. Also my next set of tires I’ll be switching the front tire from a 120/60-17 to a 120/70-17. The taller tire will raise the front back up a bit so that should help too.
Almost ready for the track on Sunday!!!
Now I just need to decide on what to do with the forks. Either going to go with new springs/oil/emulators or a GSX-R swap. I also have a lead on some Andreanni cartridges that might be a good third option.
Hopefully I’ll have a better idea of what I want to do to the bike after my 2-day track day this weekend!

So you’re basically Peter black circa 2012 now. Doubly so if you do the GSX-R swap with ABS.

Fork springs and oil alone did help quite a bit on my old 02 SV. I never got around to doing a GSX-R swap as I never went to a track with the SV.
